Product Overview

Menzolit® SMC 0300 is a glass fibre-reinforced sheet moulding compound based on unsaturated polyester resin. It contains mineral fillers and is designed for applications where a superior surface finish is required. The material does not melt, form droplets, or generate excessive smoke in the event of a fire. It is compression moulded in heated steel moulds, ideal for housings, covers or functional furniture components.

Menzolit® SMC 0300 combines high mechanical performance with superior surface finish, enabling functional and aesthetic applications. Its fire-retardant, halogen-free composition meets safety standards for the electrical, construction, industrial and commercial vehicle sectors. Low shrinkage ensures dimensional accuracy, while compatibility with standard compression moulding facilitates efficient production. The material is suitable for housings, covers and furniture components requiring consistent quality.

Menzolit® SMC 0300 meets UL 94 HB and IEC 60707-3 glow wire standards, making it ideal for the electrical, construction and commercial vehicle industries. Its fire-retardant, halogen-free formulation enhances operational safety. An improved surface finish supports the aesthetic requirements for furniture and enclosures. The compound ensures dimensional stability and reliable mechanical performance for precise component production.

SMC 0300 offers high stiffness and strength with low shrinkage, making it suitable for the production of precise and aesthetically pleasing components. It supports continuous service up to 165 °C and offers excellent heat distortion resistance (>200 °C). The material exhibits very low water absorption (<0.5%) and high electrical insulation (Surface resistivity: 10¹² Ω). Its balanced properties make it ideal for housings, covers and furniture requiring smooth surfaces.

Menzolit® SMC 0300 should be compression-moulded using heated steel moulds, preferably with chrome-plated tools. Maintain recommended temperature and pressure for optimal curing. Store in a dry environment.
