Product Overview

Menzolit® SMC 0290 is a glass fibre-reinforced sheet moulding compound based on unsaturated polyester resin. It contains mineral fillers and provides reliable performance for high-strength functional electrical components. The material does not melt, form droplets, or generate excessive smoke in the event of a fire. Injection-moulded in heated steel moulds, it is suitable for switchgear housings and other demanding electrical applications.

SMC 0290 combines low shrinkage with high mechanical strength, suitable for injection-moulded electrical components. Continuous service up to 165 °C and heat distortion resistance >200 °C ensure durability. High stiffness and electrical insulation, combined with fire-retardant properties, make it ideal for demanding functional components. Water absorption is minimal (<0.5 %), supporting long-term stability in varied environments.
