Rail applications usually require the stiffness and surface performance levels as other applications do. However beyond these well known properties of SMC and BMC a major demand for mass transit are the fire, smoke and toxicity advantages of materials used outside and especially inside the train.
Fire and smoke standards for rail / passenger – mass transit
There are still many national standards in place, the struggle for a European one is still not established as a common standard, only as Technical Specification.
France, AFNOR NF F 16-101
